Kane's Bridge
1929 - Official Opening of Kane's Bridge (SLV)
HISTORY
Kane's Bridge was built in 1929 to link Studley Park and Yarra Bend Park. It was washed away by the floods in 1934 and rebuilt in 1935. The bridge was named after Councillor T J Kane of Collingwood, who was a member of the Yarra Bend Management Committee. he Bridge replaced a ferry.
It is reached from the Yarra Boulvard, at the main car park at the Studley Park Boatshed picnic area. Alkternaive access is from Yarra Bend Rd, near the Yarra Bend Golf Course.
An interesting 2 km Nature Trail. known as the Bushland Circuit, starts at the car park, and offers good views of the bridge and river - illustrated inormation boards along the Trail describe the history of the area and its fauna and flora.
