1860 - Boat Wharf at Studley Park (SLV)

OVERVIEW

The Main Yarra Trail passes through the Park.

It's a shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians, which follows the Yarra River through the north eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

The trail follows the river from near its mouth, through the city and suburbs to Westerfolds Park and Eltham, ending at thde junc tioon ,of nthed Mullium ulluikm Trail at Mitcham.

The Capital City Trail uses the same path up to Dights Falls, where it continues up the Merri Creek Trail as part of its loop around the city. Mullum Mullum Trail

Bicycle Victoria has an ongoing campaign to have the path in Yarra Bend Park improved and the stairs at the east end of Gipps Street effectively removed from the trail by continuing the path on the west side of the river. Other alternatives include installing a ramp or installing a new footbridge near the Abbotsford Convent.

THROUGH THE PARK

From the east, it enters the Park at the Chandler Highway (Kew) via an underpass, then up a set of steps to the Yarra Boulevard. It uses a dedicated bike/walking pathway on the north side of the road, until it reaches the Wurundjeri Lookout. From there it descends steeply to the Fairfield Pipe Bridge, crossing the Yarra near the Fairfield Boathouse.

It then swings around, then goes along the top of the Merri Creek Escarpment, passing the Merri Creek Lookout until it feaches the junction of the Merri Creek Trail near Dight's Falls.

It then follows the route of the Capital City Trail under the Johnston St Bridge, then passing the Collingwood Children's Farm and Convent, reaching the Collins footbridge at Gipps St. At the end of the footbridge it passes through Andrews Reserve, then alongside the Yarra Boulevard until reaching Dickinson's Reserve and the Walmer St pedestrian bridge,  the exit point from the Park
